Plagiarism Checking
Plagiarism Checking Policy
JPL: Jurnal Pengabdian Leuser is committed to maintaining academic integrity and ensuring that all published articles are original and free from plagiarism and other forms of academic misconduct.
All submitted manuscripts are subject to plagiarism screening before the peer review or publication process. The editorial team may use plagiarism detection software or other appropriate similarity-checking tools to identify potential plagiarism, excessive similarity, duplicate publication, and inappropriate reuse of previously published material.
Plagiarism Screening Process
Plagiarism checking may be conducted at the following stages:
-
Initial Screening
All submitted manuscripts may be checked for similarity during the initial editorial assessment. -
Before Peer Review
Manuscripts showing substantial similarity with previously published works may be returned to the authors for clarification or revision before being sent to reviewers. -
During the Review Process
Additional plagiarism or similarity checks may be conducted when reviewers or editors identify potential concerns. -
Before Publication
Accepted manuscripts may undergo a final similarity check before publication.
Similarity and Plagiarism Assessment
Similarity scores are used as a screening indicator and are not automatically considered evidence of plagiarism. The editorial team evaluates the nature, source, and context of the similarity, including properly cited quotations, references, common terminology, standard methodological expressions, and previously published material by the authors.
A manuscript may be rejected or returned for revision if the editorial team determines that substantial portions of the manuscript have been copied or reproduced without appropriate acknowledgment.
Author Responsibility
Authors are fully responsible for ensuring that their submitted manuscripts are original and properly acknowledge the ideas, words, data, figures, tables, and other materials obtained from other sources.
Authors must:
-
Properly cite and reference all sources used.
-
Use quotation marks and appropriate citations when reproducing another author's exact words.
-
Obtain permission where required for copyrighted material.
-
Avoid submitting manuscripts that have been published elsewhere.
-
Avoid duplicate publication and inappropriate self-plagiarism.
-
Ensure that all submitted content complies with accepted standards of academic integrity.
Actions in Cases of Plagiarism
If plagiarism or significant inappropriate text reuse is identified before publication, the manuscript may be returned to the authors for explanation or revision, or rejected depending on the seriousness of the case.
If plagiarism is discovered after publication, the journal may take appropriate corrective action in accordance with its publication ethics procedures. Such actions may include issuing a correction, publishing an editorial notice, or retracting the article when necessary.
The editorial team reserves the right to contact the authors' affiliated institution or other relevant parties when serious academic misconduct is identified.
Editorial Responsibility
The Editor-in-Chief and editorial team are responsible for ensuring that plagiarism concerns are handled fairly, consistently, and confidentially. Decisions are based on the evidence available and the principles of academic integrity and publication ethics.
